Full Day £160
Our full day advanced level courses start at 10am and run till 3:30pm.
You will make a dragon’s head poker and dragon’s head keyring or advanced hanging basket bracket.
2-Day £300
Our 2-day advanced level courses run over 2 consecutive weekends. Each day starts at 10am and runs till 1pm.
You will make either a Damascus knife or stationary dragon bottle opener.
A half or full day experience in the forge with our blacksmith.
Learn traditional blacksmithing techniques.
Make your own ironwork:
- For a full day session you will make either a dragon’s head poker and dragon’s head keyring or advanced hanging basket bracket.
- For a 2-day session you will make either a Damascus knife or stationary dragon bottle opener.
All safety equipment, tools and materials will be provided.
After booking: On completion of your order, you will be emailed a booking reference number. Present this email on arrival, or if you don’t have a printer, simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number.
On the day: You will be welcomed on site and provided with your safety equipment before being shown the blacksmithing techniques. Materials are then provided and you’ll be taken through the steps to make your own ironwork.
Photographs will be taken with your permission for us to use for marketing purposes.
Please note: When working in a workshop environment, clothing is very important. The best is denim jeans, a cotton t-shirt or top, and strong sturdy shoes. Walking boots are preferable if possible. Also, long hair will need to be tied back at all times.
Adults and children 13+ can attend this course. It is suitable for people who have experience of blacksmithing, preferably at an intermediate level.
Blacksmithing is a physically demanding job. Every applicant will have to take into consideration that they will be on their feet for the duration, working with metal and swinging a hefty hammer for the majority of their time.
Applicants with medical conditions such as bad backs, heart conditions or joint pain are strongly advised not to participate in an all day session.
We can accommodate up to three people at any one time on this course.
If you are looking to book for more than three, you could book morning and afternoon sessions. Otherwise, please contact us to enquire about group bookings.
Location: Chain Bridge Forge, High Street, Spalding, Lincolnshire PE11 1TX
Accessibility: There is level access to all the buildings. A step at the exit can be avoided by exiting via the entrance. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site. Water bowls are available outside.
Parking: There is no designated parking at the site however there is street parking.
There are two public car parks within 5 minutes walk of the forge – one further down High Street and a second over the river at the Castle Sports Centre.
Bike: We have an area on site where you can secure your bicycle.
Train: The nearest train station is Spalding which is approximately 2 miles away.
Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for any cancellations.

Accessible Toilets: There are accessible toilets in the Forge.
Refreshments: These are provided by a machine in the Shoeing Shed.
Smoking: The Forge is a no smoking site. Smoking is not permitted in any buildings.
First Aid: First Aid facilities are available on site.
